Prof. Dr Khalid bin Alwaleed Abdul Fattah, Dean of the Faculty of Science – Qana, thanked the President of the University for his generous support for all scientific research at the university, pointed out that the work of first astronomical school recommended work of a cooperation protocol between the Faculty of the Science at South Valley University and the National Astronomical Research Institute, the activation of scientific exchange and field visits to monitoring stations between the two parties, and establish a scientific excellence centre in astronomy and space weather in cooperation with the Astronomy and Space Weather Institute, He also called on those interested in Astro science and identifying trends to take advantage of practical training in the school in their fields such as the students studying geography, students of the cadastral Department at the Faculty of Engineering, and the cadastral authority of the Religious Habous Ministry to determine the directions of El-Qibla for Mosques, in addition to recommend the evaluation the of participated students efforts in the school by allocating part of the year course degree the for the participation
Dr Iman Fouad, a professor of atmospheric physics in the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Science in Qana, pointed out that the second day of the school’s work witnessed several activities where a discussion, entitled “My experience with the Egyptian Space Agency” has held to discuss the inquiries of the students of the fourth division of physics participating with the professors of the astronomy department.
The second day witnessed several lectures where Dr Safinaz Ahmed, from the Astronomical Research Institute, gave a lecture, entitled “Sun and Solar Phenomena”, Dr Magda Mohb
El-Din, from the Institute of Astronomical Research, gave a lecture, entitled “Space Weather”, and a lecture by Dr Juma Khalaf, from the Institute of Astronomical Research, entitled “Forensic Astronomy”, and conducted morning practical training for students participating in measuring solar angles and practical evening training on reading the sky and identifying the polar star
