The President of South Valley University receives a Delegation of UNIDO

Prof. Dr Youssef Gharbawy, President of South Valley University, received the delegation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which included Anakiara Eskanduny, director of the Green Growth Project in the organization, and Adel Sabry, National Coordinator, in the presence of Dr Abdul Aziz Shaiba, Vice Dean of the Agriculture Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Dr Mohamed Omran, Director of the Career Development Center at the university

The President of the University stated that the meeting dealt with aspects of future cooperation between the University and UNIDO, praised the UNIDO’s efforts in providing technical support to enhance innovation in many fields such as agricultural and environmental sustainability, renewable energy and waste recycling, noting that the University has many partnerships with various institutions to train and qualify students and graduates for the labour market

The Director of the Green Growth Project, Anakiara Iskanduny, clarified the project being implemented by the Organization in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and a group of local partners such as the Ministry of Environment, the Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise Development bodies, the province of Qana and the province of Luxor Province, and the need to pay attention for training and capacity-building, he commended the experience of the University of the South Valley in project management, such as the SOLIDA project, which paid close attention to renewable energy

Dr Mohamed Imran, Director of the University’s Career Development Centre, indicated the importance of reducing the gap between graduates and the labour market through training, capacity development, and skills development through a range of specialized programmes

The meeting was attended by Dr Ahmed Abu-Bakr Abdul Menaam, Head of the Animal Production Department, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Nadia Salim, responsible for communication and knowledge management of the Green Growth Project, and Omar Ryad, responsible for the project at Luxor Government
