Department of Plant Protection

The department is considered one of the most important departments. It includes two important branches, Entomology and pesticides.

  • Entomology:
  • It deals with the study of insects that affect various kinds of horticultural crops, in addition to study the biology, physiology, morphology, and the environment of insects.
  • It deals also with the study of insects with medical and veterinary importance, as well as insects that infect stored grain.
  • Pesticides:
  • It is a branch of Department of Plant Protection that is concerned with controlling various types of agricultural pests (insects – mites – nematodes – rodents – fungi – bacteria – snails).

It deals with studying the issues of environmental pollution by pesticides and their side effects.
