Holding awareness seminars for students and university staff

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of South Valley University, and Dr. Ahmed Kamal Nassary, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, a series of awareness seminars for students and university staff was held at the Faculty of Physical Education in Qena, in cooperation with the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction, where it will be held in a number of University Faculties.

Dr. Abdel Haq Sayed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, stressed the importance of these seminars in raising young people’s awareness of the risks of addiction, noting that the Faculty of Physical Education; under the supervision of Dr. Ashraf Moussa, Dean of the Faculty, is keen to actively participate in various awareness-raising activities of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addictions and it attaches great importance to protecting young people from falling into addiction.

The seminar was attended by Dr. El-Sayed Awad, Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Mahmoud Yassin, representative of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addictions and Abuse, Qena governorate, the students and volunteers from the university students of the Fund.

It dealt with introducing the law on early detection of drugs, exposure of an employee who is proven to use drugs to dismissal from work, raising awareness of the harms of narcotic substances, abuse, types of drugs, the adverse effects of drug abuse, the psychological and neurological effects of addiction, and how to treat infected through the University’s Al-Azima Center, which provides free treatment services.
