ِSouth Valley University achieves a new international achievement in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023

Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharabawy, President of South Valley University, announced that the University has achieved a new international achievement according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 results. The Times in London announced the results of the academic institutions ranking across the following disciplines: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Clinical and Health, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Psychology and Social Sciences.
The Ranking results showed that the university appears in four disciplines compared to its appearance in one discipline in the previous year, which are as follows: Engineering 401-500, Life Sciences 601-800, Physical Sciences 601-800 and Clinical and Health +801.

Dr. Youssef Gharabawy added that the University locally ranks 7th bis in Engineering Sciences among 25 universities, 12th bis in Nature Sciences among 22 universities, 12th bis in Life Sciences among 18 universities, and 13th bis In Clinical Sciences and Public Health among 18 universities. This is a new achievement for South Valley University in fulfillment of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, added that South Valley University is keen to appear in the world rankings in order to maintain institutional reputation at the local and international levels. He also said that the Times Ranking includes 1017 educational institutions around the world. The number of published papers and citations for faculty members and the assistant staff contributed significantly to the emergence of the university in these disciplines, which reflects how the University has scientific cadres capable of sustainable development and education.

Dr. Muhammad Ali Muhammad Ismail, official and representative of the university for the international ranking, stated that the University; is headed by Dr. Youssef Gharbawy and under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, has made great strides towards being present in the world rankings. He explained that the number of published papers represents 30% of the ranking evaluation, citations represents 30%, and the quality of the educational and teaching process represents 30%.

Dr. Hamouda Muhammad, a member of the Ranking Committee, added that the field of physical sciences includes several disciplines according to the Times database: Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Geology, Environmental Sciences, and Earth and Sea sciences. The field of Engineering includes Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering. Life Sciences include Agriculture, Forestry, Biological Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. Clinical and Health Sciences include both Medicine, Dentistry and Health sciences in general.

Finally, the president of the university thanked the efforts of the faculty members, the assistant staff and researchers and the work team of the Ranking Commitee at the university under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Akawy, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
