Pharmacology

The main objective of teaching pharmacology in the field of veterinary medicine is to explain the chemical role of drugs in the treatment of infectious and epidemiological diseases that affect the animal body and to teach the students how to make the decision to give one drug over the other without disrupting the various functions of the body in addition to clarifying the side effects of each drug and its optimal dose to save the animal’s life. The importance of pharmacology in the veterinary field is highlighted, not only in the treatment of animals, but in conducting vital immunizations against dangerous diseases, whether they are infectious, epidemiological or common, transmitted to humans accompanying the animal. It is also important to explain dangerous and health medicines used in fattening animals, poultry and fish without causing a vital functional defect that affects human health.

Vision:

Provision of distinct facilities that contribute to providing new services in the field of pharmacology in the laboratory and at the clinical level.

Mission:

Provide outstanding education in pharmacology and therapeutics to veterinary students to train veterinarians to adopt new technologies in clinical pharmacology to conduct recognized distinguished basic research and to participate in management and leadership in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at South Valley University and in appropriate national scientific and professional societies.
