FUNCTIONS

The functions of the Electronic Services Unit are:

 

1- The Faculty network:

 

⦁ Follow-up to the Faculty Intranet.

⦁ Periodic examination of the Faculty’s network and current and future requirements.

⦁ Preparation of periodic reports on faults, network efficiency and utilization rate.

⦁ Download original software and antiviruses.

⦁ Cooperation with the University Network Administration to achieve the required objectives and policies.

⦁ Implementation of the required expansion of the Faculty wired & wireless network in coordination with the University Network.

⦁ periodic maintenance of computers and their accessories and supervision of maintenance contracts.

 

2- Digital Library Project:

⦁ Creating accounts on the digital library for teaching staff, their assistants and graduate students in coordination with the central project of the University.

⦁ Activation of electronic correspondence at the Faculty.

 

3- Management Information Systems (MIS):

These systems combine information technology, computer science and management

with the aim of building technological computer systems that assist the various

administrations in carrying out their work in order to reduce burdens and financial

costs for staff and to establish a decision support system at the Higher Council of

Universities.

 MIS Tasks:

⦁ Training of staff on how to work in Management Information Systems.

⦁ Training faculty members in systems related to their work, such as the Control and Quality System.

⦁ Providing technical support to users of Management Information Systems.

⦁ Periodic reports on the efficiency of work in the systems and their application at the Faculty.

 

Management information systems services:
It provides services to:

⦁ Student Affairs Administrations.

⦁ Employee Relations.

 

4- Information Technology Training Project:

⦁ Organization of IT training courses for faculty members, their assistants and employees in coordination with the training project at the university.

⦁ Providing technical support to all beneficiaries of the information technology Unit services.

 

5- E-learning:

⦁ Coordination of cooperation between the administration of the E-learning Unit at the Faculty and the university.

⦁ Training faculty members, students and assistants on the use of electronic curricula.

⦁ Activating the use of curricula produced by other universities and related to the various specializations of the Faculty.

⦁ Preparation data of student and faculty members for electronic curricula activated at the Faculty.

 

6- IP:

⦁ It is the link between the Faculty’s Electronic Services Unit project and the university’s iPortal project.

⦁ Creating and activating the academic E-mail for faculty members, students, and employees.

⦁ Create a television channel of the Faculty on YouTube and upload videos of important events within the Faculty.

⦁ Publish and update news on the portal at the rate of 50 news per month.

⦁ Publishing the study schedules for the various academic programs.

⦁ Follow up publishing news for users in the different parts of the Faculty.
