About the faculty

South Valley University applied for establishing a branch of the Faculty of Engineering in Qena in May 2005 after the approval of the University Council No. 103 on 05/23/2005 to the Engineering Studies Sector Committee.

The Engineering Studies Sector Committee recommended in its session on 9/1/2005 the approval in principle to establish a branch of the Faculty of Engineering in Aswan in Qena, provided that the university prepares the material and human resources for the establishment of the branch.

In its session No. 119, held on November 27, 2006, the University Council approved the renewal of the approval to establish a branch of the Faculty of Engineering in Aswan at the University’s headquarters in Qena.

The Engineering Studies Sector Committee recommended in its session No. 19 on 2/22/2007 approval in principle to establish the Faculty of Engineering in Qena as an independent faculty.

Since South Valley University applied to establish the Faculty of Engineering in Qena in 2005, it has prepared the material and human foundations that qualify it to open the Faculty of Engineering, as it has chosen the best buildings for the university, which is the former headquarters of the university to be the headquarters of the faculty, in addition to equipping workshops and laboratories.

The Supreme Council of Universities approved in its session on 3/7/2007 the opening of the Faculty of Engineering in Qena – South Valley University.

On Wednesday, 5/9/2007, the Council of Ministers approved a draft presidential decree to establish the Faculty of Engineering in Qena at South Valley University.
