As a part of the cooperation protocol between South Valley University and the Ministry of Endowments, a specialized training course in psychological counseling and sociology was held at the Faculty of Arts in Qena. The course, organized under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Akkawi, President of the university, and supervised by Dr. Waheed El-Din Taher, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, aimed to enhance the capabilities of imams and female preachers in Qena to address contemporary issues in a moderate and enlightened manner, in accordance with the principles of true Islamic religion.
Dr. Ali El-Din Abdel-Badi’ El-Qasabi, Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts in Qena, delivered the course. During the training, Dr. El-Qasabi emphasized that “rumors” have become one of the tools of “soft psychological warfare,” aiming to disrupt societies through disturbances and unrest caused by certain entities. He explained that rumors consist of false news or a collection of false news that spreads rapidly in society and is circulated among the public, who believe it to be true. These pieces of news are often engaging and arouse public curiosity but usually lack reliable sources. Rumors constitute a significant portion of the information we encounter and represent a form of deceit and defamation, which distorts minds.
