Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of South Valley University, met with the UNIDO Inclusive Green Growth team members funded by the Swiss Embassy in Egypt, which included Dr. Muhammad Negm, an Expert in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Safety, Dr. Hamdy Muhammad Ragab, a Skills Expert, and Dr. Hossam Ibrahim Badawy, an Expert Technical Education, and in the presence of Dr. Hadiya Dandrawy, Director of the Faculty and Leadership Development Center at the University.
Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy emphasized the importance of cooperation between the university and UNIDO explaining the efforts of UNIDO in fostering innovation in many areas aligns with the State’s keen interest in developing the green economic sectors of sustainable agriculture, food production, waste management and renewable energy. Adding that, according to the proposal submitted by the UNIDO Inclusive Green Growth Project in Egypt, and in cooperation with the Faculty and Leadership Development Center, a workshop will be held on design and development of food safety training courses for faculty members in the faculties of science, agriculture, specific education and veterinary medicine.
Dr. Hadiya Dandrawy, Director of the Faculty and Leadership Development Center at the University, explained that the workshop is sponsored by Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of the University, and Dr. Ahmed Kamal Nassari, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development. The workshop aims to develop training courses on food safety by applying tested methodologies and good practices to suit the needs of the labour market in the food industry.
