The Minister of Higher Education inspects the new constructions at the Public and National South Valley University


Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research inspected the new constructions at South Valley Public University and South Valley National University. He was accompanied during his tour by Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of South Valley University, Dr. Mostafa Abdel Khalek, President of Sohag University, and Dr. Hamdy Hussein, President of Luxor University.

Dr. Ayman Ashour praised the new constructions that were implemented in the two universities according to the specified timetable, stressing the importance of commitment to the quality of implementation and the new facilities. Confirming the need to meet the various requirements of construction safety according to the highest quality standards in order to provide outstanding educational services in line with the objectives of sustainable development (Egypt Vision 2030).

During his inspection tour of South Valley Public University, the Minister visited a number of university facilities, including: the Laboratories building of at the Faculty of Engineering, which costs 199 million pounds, the Electronic Exams building, which accommodates 6 thousand computers at a cost of 486 million pounds, the Faculty of Medicine’s Halls Complex, at a cost of 198 million pounds, and the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre, at a cost of 176 million pounds. He also inspected the constructions of South Valley National University, which were established by Republican Decree No. 420, issued in 2022, and that are built on an area of 41.5 acres, with a total cost of 3 billion and 800 million pounds.

For his part, Dr. Youssef Gharabawy, President of South Valley University, explained the university’s commitment to implementing the strategic vision of higher education, which aims to provide education and training for all with high quality through the development of the higher education system and scientific research, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, and providing quality integrated educational and training services that contribute to qualifying graduates to be able to compete in local, regional and international labor markets. He also added that South Valley National University currently includes 8 buildings, in addition to 2 engineering workshops, explaining that the university includes 12 faculties: Medicine, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Oral and Dental Medicine, Education, Administrative and Financial Sciences, Alsun, Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Tourism and Sports, Engineering, Arts and Design, and Nursing, noting the start of this year’s study with the Medical and Surgical Program in the Faculty of Medicine, at the Faculty of Medicine, the physiotherapy program, and the computer and information program, and artificial intelligence.

During his inspection tour, the minister was accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Badawy Shahat, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Kamal, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Deans of Faculties, and Dr. Hisham Farouk, Assistant Minister For digital transformation, Dr. Ayman Farid, Advisor to the Deputy Minister for Employment, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sharqawy, Assistant Minister for Finance and Investment, Dr. Hussein Farid, Director of the National Universities Project emanating from public universities, and Mr. Adel Ahmed Mustafa, Secretary General of South Valley University.
