The first student conference at the College of Medicine discusses artificial intelligence and the quality of doctor preparation


 

The Faculty of Medicine at Qena University held its first student conference, under the patronage of Prof. Dr Ahmed Akawy, President of Qena University, in the presence of Dr. Mohmed Saeed, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Wael Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Ashraf Mossa, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Ali Abdel Rahman Ghawil, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Mohmed Hosny Hassan, Vice Dean of the College with the participation of faculty, department heads, and students. The event emphasised the university’s commitment to connecting education with societal needs, developing students’ skills, and preparing competent, ethical doctors. Speakers highlighted the importance of scientific research, the quality of education, and the integration of modern topics like artificial intelligence in medicine. Conference sessions covered medical ethics, professional skills, healthcare quality, and opportunities for academic and professional development. Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Akkawi, President of Qena University, and based on the university’s belief that the student represents the focus of the educational process, the Faculty of Medicine organized the first student conference in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Saeed, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Wael Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Ashraf Moussa, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Ali Abdel Rahman Ghawil, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Mohamed Hosni Hassan, Vice Dean of the College for Education and Student Affairs, with the distinguished participation of department heads, faculty members, Dr. Mohamed El-Deeb, Head of the Qena Doctors Syndicate, and college students.
In his speech, Dr Mohamed Saeed stressed that the university is keen to link the educational process to the needs of society, and to prepare doctors capable of providing a distinguished health service that combines scientific competence and the human dimension, praising the role of such conferences in developing students’ awareness.
Dr Mohamed Wael Abdel Azim explained that progress in the medical field is closely linked to scientific research, noting that the university strongly supports students’ participation in research activities, which contributes to preparing a generation capable of innovation and competition.
For his part, Dr Ashraf Moussa praised the good organisation of the conference and the richness of its topics, stressing that building the student’s personality and providing him with the skills necessary for the labour market is at the top of the university’s priorities.

Dr Ali Abdul Rahman Ghawil welcomed the attendees, noting that the college seeks, through these events, to graduate a doctor who possesses knowledge and skill, is committed to professional ethics, and is able to keep pace with modern developments in medical sciences.
Dr Mohamed Hosni Hassan also expressed his pride in the distinguished academic level provided by the students, stressing that the conference represents an important platform for refining their skills and developing their capabilities.
The conference topics included artificial intelligence and its growing role in medicine as one of the pillars of modern practice in diagnosis, treatment, and health care management, in addition to the quality of the educational process, the best methods of studying and time management, and ways to benefit from academic guidance.
The sessions also discussed the quality of healthcare, intending to graduate competent physicians capable of serving their community efficiently and humanely, along with medical responsibility, professional skills, and the promotion of ethical values and commitment. They reviewed how to benefit from the internship year, post-internship opportunities, and the importance of scientific research in opening up areas of academic and professional development locally and internationally.
The events witnessed a dialogue with several college graduates, during which they conveyed their real-life experiences and told their success stories, which contribute to building bridges of communication between generations and inspiring students. Outstanding student presentations were also given that reflected a remarkable scientific and research awareness.
The conference concluded by honouring the top students of Qena Medical College from the first to the fifth year, in support of their journey of excellence and diligence, and to motivate them to continue their excellence in their academic and professional lives
