Governor of Red Sea Governorate Major General Ahmed Abdullah and President of the University Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour opened the 1st international Conference on Natural Resources and Renewable Energy in Hurghada on 17/4/2017 with the participation of 100 researchers and stakeholders. Major General Ahmed Abdullah asserted the availability of all possibilities to establish projects of Natural Resources and Renewable Energy, referring to establishment of solar power plants in the government to reduce pressure on Electric generating stations and petroleum products consumption .He also praised Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour for supporting the conference’s organization. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour talked about the permanent coordination between the university and the government in the various activities, asserting the importance of scientific research in field of energy and its effect in developing the community and the necessity of diversifying energy sources. He added that the conference discussed renewable energy’s concepts and applications, establishment of national renewable energy associations and generation of the commercial value from the domain Natural Resources and Renewable Energy.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Khodary, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, referred to the importance of organizing the conferences under the support of the university in scientific research, referring to the existence of multiple basic elements in Red Sea Governorate to host various scientific and cultural events .He also thanked Major General Ahmed Abdullah and Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour for their great efforts. ASST. Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Sadek, Chairman of the Conference, talked about the necessity of discussing the investment’s opportunities in solar and wind energy and attracting the investors, referring to the conference’s topics as Renewable Energy, Food Sovereignty, Resource Management, Climate Change and Water System. In the context of the conference, an exhibition for companies operating in the field of energy was opened in the presence of a large number of the academic staff.
