Within the framework of the keenness of South Valley University to participate in scientific and international conferences and to support and encourage scientific research, Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, President of the University, Dr. Gamal Abdel Hamid, Head of the Department of Urology & Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Dr. Omar Al-Saghir participated in the activities of the 5th Annual Conference of the Mediterranean Countries for Microsurgery in the Urology, which has organized by the Military Medical Academy in cooperation with the Medical Complex of the Armed Forces in Alexandria, The conference lasted for three days at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from 8-10 November 2023, with the participation of many international medical associations and institutions from 23 countries, in addition to the participation of 50 international lecturers and a group of the most skilled professors in the field of microscopes worldwide.
The conference activities included a live transfer of many microendoscopic operations that have been carried out at Moustafa Kamel Hospital for the Armed Forces in Alexandria and many hospitals in the countries participating in the conference using the latest microscopes, in addition, included holding several workshops for urologists to train on the latest techniques for urological endoscopy. Dr. Gamal Abdel Hamid chaired a session under the title of the use of endoscopes in the removal of tumors in the bladder, While Dr. Omar participated in conducting a flexible ureteroscopy at the Military Hospital in Alexandria for a child under three years to extract stones. The participants in the conference praised the Department of Urology at the Faculty of Medicine at South Valley University.
