Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, President of the University, and Dr. Mohamed Said, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, the University’s Unit for Combating Violence Against Women participated in a meeting to promote reproductive health and combat female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage in Upper Egypt. The event was organized by Plan International Egypt at the General Egyptian Book Organization Library.
Dr. Hala Khair Sanary, Professor of Mental Health and Director of the Unit for Combating Violence Against Women, stated that the meeting aimed to unify efforts in supporting reproductive health rights and fighting female genital mutilation and child marriage, with the goal of achieving the best outcomes that positively impact communities and targeted groups.
The meeting was attended by numerous government and local leaders from the governorate, including representatives from South Valley University, the media, the National Council for Women, the Child Protection Unit at the Governorate’s General Office, the Health Directorate, associations, and the Equal Opportunities Unit in the governorate.
