Under the Patronage of Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of South Valley University and supervised by Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, the General Administration of Libraries held a training course for librarians and library managers at the university, entitled “Digital transformation in South Valley Libraries” in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Omran, director of the Career Development Center at the university.
Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy confirmed that training is a comprehensive process that enables the individual to carry out the required functions and that the library profession is like all other applied professions that are keen to follow the practitioners of this profession to the latest developments in the field of specialization.
Dr. Ahmed Akkawy added that the training course aims to improve the skills, capabilities, experience and information available to the librarian, to prepare him to take on new roles imposed by the information revolution, and to achieve a positive relationship between the faculty members of the Library and Information Department and the librarians at the university.
Yassin Taye, Director General of Libraries, added that this course will last for five days, praising the efforts of the university administration in qualifying the staff of university libraries in accordance with the nature of the work they do in libraries.
