Dr. Ahmed Akkawi, the president of South Valley University, announced the university’s inclusion in the July 2024 edition of the “Web metrics Spanish Ranking”. He noted that the university achieved the 18th position locally out of 51 Egyptian universities listed in the current ranking. According to the official site of the ranking, South Valley University secured the 1791st position globally with 142680 citations.
The Web metrics ranking is issued by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research unit of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), one of Spain’s leading research institutions. It is one of the largest rankings globally in terms of the number of universities included. The methodology of this ranking allocates 50% to web visibility and the impact of the university’s electronic content, 10% to the number of highly cited researchers based on Google Scholar, and 40% to the number of research papers among the top 10% most cited.
As per the Ministry of Higher Education statement, the global Web metrics ranking for citations in its July 2024 edition listed 51 Egyptian universities among the best international universities in terms of website presence and citation rates of internationally published scientific research, based on Google Scholar citations.
