Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, President of South Valley University, announced that the university has been ranked in the Times Higher Education International Ranking (2025) within the category of 1201-1500. He added that the current edition of the Times Higher Education ranking for 2025 evaluated 2,857 universities from 115 countries around the world, compared to last year, which had 2,671 universities participating internationally. The university maintained its ranking from the previous year despite the increase in the number of participating institutions.
Dr. Akkawy explained that the ranking is based on five main areas: Teaching (Learning Environment) 30%, Research (Volume or Rate of Research Output, Research Income, Reputation) 30%, Citations (Research Impact) 30%, International Outlook (International Students, International Faculty, International Collaboration) 7.5%, and Industry Income (Knowledge Transfer) 2.5%. This evaluation is conducted through 13 performance indicators related to teaching, scientific research, knowledge transfer, and international surveys, which provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons between universities according to the ranking criteria.
