South Valley University Achieves Green University Ranking in the 2024 Indonesian Sustainability Ranking


Dr. Ahmed Akkawi, President of South Valley University, announced that the university has been ranked among the “Green Universities” and is recognized for its environmental friendliness. South Valley University secured the 1091st position worldwide in the 2024 UI Green Metric World University Ranking. This year’s ranking included 1,477 universities from around the world, compared to 1,183 universities in the previous year.

 

Dr. Akkawi explained that the Green Metric Ranking assesses universities’ participation in developing environmentally friendly infrastructure, ranking them based on their achievement of sustainable development goals and commitment to maintaining a clean and green campus environment.

 

Dr. Mohamed Wael, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, noted that 36 Egyptian universities were included in the UI Green Metric Ranking this year, compared to just 26 universities last year. He added that the ranking evaluates the internal campus environment as a green and sustainable space through six key criteria and 39 indicators, aimed at addressing climate change and preserving resources such as energy, water, and food.
