The second conference of the Egyptian Higher Academy for epilepsy, which was held in Luxor from 3-5 May under the auspices of Dr. Mohamed Badr, Governor of Luxor, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour, President of South Valley University, and Prof. Dr. Hamdi Hussein, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Qena, recommended several recommendations; Emphasis on the importance of psychiatric treatment for some cases of Epilepsy and the need to use modern techniques in brain mapping to distinguish between epilepsy and other psychiatric diseases that are similar in some symptoms. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Abbas, Head of the Psychiatry and Neurology Department at the Qena Medical Center, said that the conference, which discussed the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy during the new period, was attended by about 100 professors and researchers from various Egyptian universities and hospitals of the Ministry of Health. He recommended to follow a health diet in severe cases of epilepsy and the need for surgical intervention in some cases of epilepsy and the use of cerebral catheterization for the treatment of defects of blood vessels causing epilepsy, and also recommended the importance of the establishment of more meetings, seminars and scientific conferences to see the latest Scientific achievements in the field of epilepsy treatment and the importance of working to raise the level of doctors via continuous scientific development in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy and the establishment of social learning-based seminars to widen medical culture related to epilepsy and the role of the family in the success of the follow-up treatment.
