under the auspices of Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of South Valley University, Dr. Ali Abdel Rahman Goel, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, and Dr. Mohamed Youssef Ahmed, Executive Director of Qena University Hospitals, the third international workshop on ultrasound endoscopy was organized, with the participation of prof. Dr. Hakan Senturk, President of the Middle East and North Africa Association for Endoscopic Ultrasound.
Dr. Ali Goel, confirmed that the workshop comes within the framework of the scientific plan of Faculty of Medicine and Qena university hospitals, which aims to improve the medical services through informing and training the faculty members, their assistants and doctors, in light of a plan to expand the subspecialties. He also confirmed that the Endoscopic Ultrasound is one of the most important modern medical interventions used for diagnostic purposes in many diseases of the pancreas, biliary system and digestive system, such as detecting the presence of early tumors and determining the stage of the tumor. It is also used for many therapeutic purposes, such as drainage of blocked bile ducts and drainage of blood and water pools around the pancreas.
Dr. Mohamed Taj El-Din, an assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Liver and the coordinator of the workshop added that the workshop included an examination of three patients suffering from recurrent inflammation of the pancreas and cases suffering from enlarged lymph nodes in The thoracic cavity. This was accompanied by a detailed and educational explanation for the doctors participating in the workshop.
