Qena Governor and Vice President of South Valley University hand over 129 prosthetic devices to people of determination on the International Day for People with Special Needs


Major General Ashraf El-Dawdy, Governor of Qena, participated in the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Special Needs organized by the Directorate of Social Solidarity for Persons with Disabilities, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Kamal Nassary, Vice President of South Valley University for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, on behalf of Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, the university president, Dr. Hazem Omar, Deputy Governor of Qena, Hassan Othman, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, His Eminence Sheikh Maher Jabr, Deputy of the Ministry of Awqaf , Ahmed El Sayed, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply, and Representative Mustafa Mahmoud Mostafa, Representative Naglaa Bakhoum, a member of the House of Representatives, Eng. Iman Muhammad, alternate rapporteur of the National Council for Women, a number of Islamic and Christian clerics, and a large number of children and citizens of determination and their families.

The governor of Qena congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the New Year, asking Allah that this year be good and for Egypt all stability, safety and progress. Expressing his pleasure with the participation of people with special needs in the annual celebration of their International Day, stating that this ceremony has become an annual tradition that we are keen to organize so that we can renew the meeting and communication, and to celebrate those persons in a manner that befits them.

El-Dawdy added that President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Republic, showed great interest in people with special needs and was like a spiritual father to them since the first sporting event he attended after his election as President of the Republic in the Eighth Regional Games of the Special Olympics in December 2014, even the launch of 2018 as the year for people with special needs, during which the Law of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities No.10 2018 was issued, in addition to the representation of this group in the House of Representatives.

The governor saluted the families and parents of people with special needs for the care they had provided and are still providing to their children of determination. He also addressed a word of appreciation and pride to our children of determination, calling on them to continue their efforts, struggle in life, wishing them all the best and success.

Hussein Al-Baz, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, said that the Directorate strives to invest every thought, innovation, creativity and production to work to integrate people of determination into society and obtain their rights and equality with all segments of society, which will contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development and the advancement of our country until we reach everything we aspire. He also reviewed the activities and services provided by the Directorate of Social Solidarity to people with special needs.

At the end of the ceremony, Qena Governor and Vice President of South Valley University hand over 129 prosthetic devices to people of determination. They also handed memorial shields to 11 civil association in appreciation of their role in caring for people with special needs.
