Qena Environment between Reality and Hope


Within the framework of activities of the fifteenth environmental week at South Valley University, the Faculty of Science organized two symposia entitled “Qena Environment between Reality and Hope” and “Drug Addiction”. Prof. Dr. Khaled Ibn Al-Walid, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized the faculty’s keenness to actively participate in the activities of the environmental week to activate its role in sustainable development through its material and human capabilities. Also, Prof. Dr. Noha Altayeh, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environment development Sector, referred in her speech to the importance of such symposia in raising awareness among students. The first symposium dealt with environmental concepts, sources of environmental pollution in Qena Governorate, the state’s efforts in sustainable development and pollution reduction and the role of the Ministry of Environment in water pollution’s prevention. Additionally, the second symposium dealt with the efforts of the state in combating the spread of drugs, harms of addiction and its negative effects, hotline services for Drug Control Fund and Al-Azima Center services in combating drug addiction.
