President of South Valley University Receives Al-Azhar Preaching Convoy


        Dr. Ahmed Akawy, President of South Valley University, received the delegation of the Al-Azhar preaching convoy visiting Qena Governorate, as part of Al-Azhar’s ongoing efforts to promote moderate Islamic thought and correct misconceptions, under the auspices of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar.

       The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Wael Abdel-Azim, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Ms. Tarob Tulba, University Secretary-General; Mr. Abdel-Razek Hussein, Assistant Secretary-General; members of the convoy; Sheikh Taj El-Din Abu El-Wafa, Head of the Al-Azhar Region in Qena; and Sheikh Mahrous Ammar, Head of the Fatwa Committee at Al-Azhar in Qena.

       Dr. Akawy welcomed the convoy’s visit, praising the vital role played by Al-Azhar, under the leadership of the Grand Imam, in disseminating the values of moderation, tolerance, and the authentic message of Islam. He further emphasized Al-Azhar’s contribution to instilling ethical, religious, and national values, and to fostering a sense of belonging and loyalty to the homeland among university students and Egyptian youth at large.
