As part of South Valley University’s role in serving and developing the local community, Dr. Ahmed Akkawi discussed the preparations for the launch of the Digital School Initiative for children with special needs. The meeting was attended by Dr. Essam Al-Tayeb, Dean of the Faculty of Education and supervisor of the initiative, Dr. Ahmed Helmy, Coordinator of the Digital School at the university, Dr. Hassan Hamdi, Professor at the Faculty of Education and Head of the Working Team, and Dr. Ali Thabet Hafni, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education and member of the initiative’s working team.
The university president noted that the Digital School for children with special needs will offer digital educational materials, models, and processes, as well as recreational programs aimed at developing reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. It will also focus on fostering entrepreneurship among children with special needs and enhancing their self-learning, life, and social skills.
Dr. Akkawi emphasized that the school’s activities will be carried out by a distinguished team of faculty members to provide a digital educational opportunity for children with special needs. The program targets children with learning difficulties aged 6 to 9 years and children with motor and visual impairments aged 6 to 12 years. He added that the school’s programs include Learning Difficulties, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Recreation. The Digital School aims to improve basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills using computers, thereby helping to develop self-learning, cooperation, and teamwork skills among children with special needs.
