Dr. Ahmed Akkawi, President of South Valley University, chaired a meeting to discuss the training programs of the “Specialized Community Care School” project, which is part of a cooperation protocol between the Egypt Foundation and the university. During the meeting, Dr. Akkawi reviewed all the technical details of the training programs. Attendees included Dr. Hussein Abdel-Baset, Director of the Strategic Planning Center at the university and project manager; Dr. Mona Shahat, Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Center; Dr. Karima Ramadan, Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Center; Dr. Hussein Abu El-Ma’gad, Director of the Center for Special Needs; Dr. Nadia Omar, Head of the Geriatric Nursing Department at the Faculty of Nursing; Dr. Suzanne Abdel-Hamid from the Department of Horticulture and Ornamental Plants at the Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. Ahmed Hamdy Abdel-Mawla, Deputy Director of the Central Quality Unit at Qena University Hospitals; Mr. Shawky Mohamed Amin; Dr. Mohamed Mahdy, Director of the Follow-up Department; and Mubarak Ahmed Mahmoud, General Manager of Public Relations at the university.
The university president noted that the “Specialized Community Care” unit is part of the university’s community engagement efforts, aimed at enhancing the welfare of the Qena community and improving the quality of life for its citizens. Dr. Akkawi added that the unit will offer practical and theoretical training in six programs: the Professional Program for Elderly Care and Companionship, the Professional Program for Child Care and Companionship, the Professional Program for Disability Care and Companionship, the Professional Program in Hospital and Clinic Services, the Professional Program for Home Care Services, and the Professional Program in Gardening and Horticulture.
