President of South Valley University Announces ENACTUS Team Achieves Second Place in GIZ Competition


 

Dr. Ahmed Akkawi, President of South Valley University, announced that the ENACTUS team from the university has secured second place in the GIZ competition, which aims to promote entrepreneurial and developmental projects across various fields. The GIZ competition seeks to support innovative ideas that contribute to sustainable development and address social and economic issues. Additionally, the team was recognized as the most inspiring team among Egyptian universities.

Dr. Mahmoud Said Abdel-Sadek, a professor at the Faculty of Science and the academic supervisor of the ENACTUS team at the university, highlighted that the ENACTUS team’s project at South Valley University is distinguished by its use of date seeds, which are typically considered waste and discarded through burning or other methods leading to their wastage. The ENACTUS team has managed to extract effective materials from these seeds and create both cosmetic and therapeutic products, as well as caffeine-free coffee.
