Launching of Awareness Meetings in Luxor Governorate


Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Akkawi, President of South Valley University, and under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Said, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the first of the annual summer awareness meetings organized by South Valley University for its students in the governorates of Qena, Luxor, and the Red Sea began today. These meetings aim to participate in the national literacy project in Luxor Governorate and will continue throughout the week.

Today, the first meeting was hosted at the Muslim Youth Association Hall in Esna, attended by a large gathering of students and staff from the Luxor branch of the Adult Education Authority, led by Mr. Khaled Shams El-Din, General Manager of the branch and the Director of the Esna Adult Education Department. From the university, Dr. Atiyat Al-Shawari, Coordinator and Professor at the Faculty of Specific Education, Mr. Mohamed Al-Kamel, General Coordinator of the University for Literacy, and the coordinators of the Faculties of Commerce and Arts were present.

The meeting discussed the illiteracy rate in Luxor Governorate, highlighting that Esna has the highest number of illiterates in the governorate. It was also noted that most governmental and non-governmental institutions in the governorate are actively participating in efforts to eradicate illiteracy.
