Launch of the cultural and intellectual construction initiative for imams and preachers of the Ministry of Religious Endowments at the university


Within the framework of cooperation between the university and the Ministry of Religious Endowments, Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, President of South Valley University, witnessed the launch of the cultural and intellectual construction initiative for imams and preachers, in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Salah Salim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Dr. Maher Ali Jabr, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Religious Endowments in Qena. The university welcomed the imams, where at the beginning of their visit they inspected the facilities of Al-Ahliya University, Gubba Library, and the university’s Olympic Village.

Dr. Ahmed Akkawy confirmed that the university is witnessing many achievements, thanks to the efforts and support of the State, noting that among these achievements are Al-Ahliya University and the Physical Therapy Center, which is the third largest center in the republic. He added that the university has an area of about 1,000 acres and includes 23 faculties and institutes and teaches about 63,000 students in bachelor’s levels and 8,000 students in the postgraduate level. It also has a strong presence in all international classifications. In addition, it includes Al-Ahliya University and the Electronic University, and soon there will be a Technological University. The President of the University told imams and preachers that they must intensify their efforts in communicating the message to others and developing the meaning of responsibility, honesty, and unity among their listeners so that the nation becomes without rumors and without strife, stressing that they are real mission holders.

Dr. Maher Ali Gabr praised the university president for paying attention to the preachers during this visit, noting that the initiative was announced under the name of cultural and intellectual construction for the imams to learn about the achievements and innovation of the new republic.

Dr. Ali Al-Din Abdel Badie Al-Qasabi, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, gave a lecture entitled National Security and social cohesion. In his lecture, he discussed the concept of national security, the dimensions of comprehensive national security, its characteristics, and challenges, and the role of imams and preachers in confronting the challenges.
