Launch of the 2nd Conference of the Medical Education Department of the Medical Faculty of SVU.


The Medical Education Department Conference of South Valley University’s Medical Faculty, held in Luxor City from February 9-12 under the patronage of Prof.Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of South Valley University, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Akkawy, Vice President for Post-Graduate and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Badawy Shahat, Vice President for Education & Students Affairs, In his speech, Prof. Dr. Gharbawy welcomed the Conference guests and their desire to achieve an exchange of insights on the medical education topic, with the participation of senior specialists in this field from various Egyptian universities, as well as 50 students in different study teams of Egyptian universities’ medical faculties. The President stressed the need to achieve high-level study and discuss new ways of teaching and training, Moreover, Prof. Dr. Badawy Shahat noted that the integration of students into the process of modernizing educational and training programs and identifying their views is one of the recent global trends initiated by the world’s leading universities toward improving the quality of education.

Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Rahman Guel, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, stressed that the main objective of the conference is to determine the extent of the negatives and pros of existing study and training programs by providing dialogue between medical education professors at Egyptian universities and students from various Egyptian study teams and universities.

The opening session of the conference has attended by Dr. Mona Ghaly, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Delta University, Dr. Thanaa Rady, Professor of Natural Medicine at Suez Canal University and Vice President of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education for Higher Education Affairs, Dr. Somaya Hosny, member of the Board of Directors of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, Dr. Mohamad Hasanein, Professor of Medical Education at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Idris Hassan, Pediatrician Consultant, Dr. Hamdy Tamam, Orthopedic Surgery Consultant in Qena Medicine, Dr. Abdel Rahim Fathy, Vascular Surgery Consultant and conference coordinator, Dr. Ahmed Ali Amer, Ophthalmologist Consultant, and conference coordinator, in addition to a large number of medical students in various Egyptian universities and South Valley University.
