A symposium on combating and treating addiction at the Faculty of Engineering


Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Kamal Nassary, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Nouby Mahdi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Farag Khoudary, Vice Dean for Community Service Affairs, the Faculty of Engineering at South Valley University organized a symposium on combating addiction. The symposium was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Askar, Director General of Preventive Programs at the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction, Mahmoud Yassin, representative of the Fund in Qena governorate and a group of faculty members and students.

At the beginning of the symposium, Dr. Nouby Mahdi welcomed the guests and urged the students to participate in student activities, seminars and workshops.

Dr. Ibrahim Askar referred to the definition of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction, the role of the State in raising awareness among Egyptian families of the risks of addiction and the State’s role in treating addiction through reliable, secure and confidential institutions.

Mr. Mahmoud Yassin gave a lecture on raising students’ awareness of the risks of addiction, how to prevent the risk of addiction and means of contact via the Fund’s Addiction Treatment hotline.

Dr. Farag Khoudary emphasized the importance of awareness seminars and their role in raising the student’s awareness to protect himself and his community from any dangers and that the student is the ambassador of the university to society and must transfer his experiences and what he learned to his family and friends.
This seminar is part of a series of activities for the sector of community service and environmental development at the Faculty of Engineering at the University.
