استقبلت مستشفى الكلية قطًا مسنًا يبلغ من العمر حوالي 15 عامًا، يعاني من فقدان شهية شديد وخمول عام منذ نحو عشرة أيام.
تحت رعاية معالي الأستاذ الدكتور/ أحمد عكاوي رئيس جامعة قنا، والأستاذ الدكتور/ محمد سعيد نائب رئيس الجامعة لشؤون خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة، والأستاذ الدكتور/ محمد عبدالصبور أحمد عميد كلية الطب البيطري،
وفي إطار الدور الخدمي والعلاجي الذي تقدمه مستشفى كلية الطب البيطري بجامعة قنا لخدمة المربين وتنمية الثروة الحيوانية،
تم إجراء الفحص الإكلينيكي، بالإضافة إلى استخدام السونار السريري (Point-of-Care Ultrasound – POCUS) كجزء من التقييم الأولي للحالة، مما ساعد في تقييم الحالة العامة واستبعاد عدد من الحالات الطارئة التي قد تتطلب تدخلاً عاجلًا.
وبناءً على نتائج الفحص، تم وضع خطة علاجية داعمة مع تقديم التوصيات الطبية المناسبة للحالة.
تعكس مثل هذه الحالات أهمية الدمج بين الفحص الإكلينيكي والسونار السريري (POCUS) في التقييم السريع للحالات الحرجة، بما يدعم اتخاذ القرار الطبي في الوقت المناسب.

Clinical Assessment of a Geriatric Cat Using Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
A geriatric intact male cat (approximately 15 years old) was presented to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Qena University, with a history of severe anorexia, progressive lethargy, intermittent vomiting, and marked weakness.
Initial clinical examination revealed severe dehydration, profound depression, generalized weakness, weak peripheral pulse, and pronounced halitosis. As part of the initial assessment, a Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) examination was performed to rapidly evaluate the thoracic and abdominal cavities and support clinical decision-making.
The ultrasonographic examination was integrated with the physical examination findings to guide the initial management plan, allowing prompt stabilization and formulation of an appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
This case highlights the practical value of POCUS as a rapid bedside imaging tool that complements the physical examination and contributes to the early evaluation of critically ill small animal patients.
