An Educational and Awareness Symposium for South Valley University`s Students to participate in the National Literacy Project.

Within the framework of the pioneering role of South Valley University in combating illiteracy in the governorates of Qena, Luxor and the Red Sea under the auspices of Prof. Dr Youssef Gharbawy, President of the University, Prof. Dr Ahmed Kamal Nassari, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr Ashour Omary, President of the General Authority for Adult Education, and the presence and administration of Dr Salah Salim Taya, Dean The Faculty of Arts, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts in Qena organized an educational and awareness  Symposium for students to motivate and train them on how to participate in the national project to eradicate illiteracy.

The symposium addressed the achievements of the University in the national literacy project, the contributions of the community service sector and environmental development towards participation in the project, the procedures for opening classes to illiterate students, how to deal with them, how to teach them using modern and appropriate methods and strategies, the incentives offered by the University and the General Authority for Adult Education to participating and distinguished students, and the means of communicating with officials from within the University and the branches of the General Authority for Adult Education in the three governorates.
Participants in the symposium were Dr Ashraf Hakim, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr Mohamed Sayed, Director of the Adult Education Centre at the University, Dr Umm Hashim Jaber, Literacy Coordinator at the faculty, and Mr Mohamed Kamel, Director of Environmental Projects and  General Coordinator of Literacy at the University, in the presence of Dr Moustafa Al-Shainy and a crowd of students of the faculty.
