The 3rd Scientific Conference on Oncology at Qena Medicine Faculty.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr Ahmed Akkawi, President of Qena University, and Prof. Dr Ali Abdel Rahman Ghawil, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the third scientific conference focused on the latest developments in oncology diagnosis and treatment, was held from December 24 to 25, 2025. Organised by the Oncology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Qena University, in collaboration with the Qena Oncology Centre, the conference attracted participation from oncology professors and experts from various universities. It was coordinated with the Qena Doctors Syndicate, aiming to support scientific research and facilitate the exchange of medical expertise at both local and international levels. The conference addressed the most recent advancements in tumour diagnosis and treatment. Key topics included the latest treatment protocols for breast tumours, tumours of the gastrointestinal and urinary systems, and gynaecological tumours. The focus was particularly on the rapid advancements in targeted therapies and immunotherapy and their significant role in improving recovery rates.

The conference brought together oncology experts from Egypt and abroad to discuss modern clinical practices and research, particularly from Qena Governorate, highlighting treatment outcomes for cancer patients. Dr Mohamed Wahman, the chairman, stressed the need for young doctors to engage with advancements in oncology and collaborate with medical institutions in Arab and European countries. The event emphasised teamwork between clinicians and researchers to improve cancer care and concluded with recommendations for ongoing specialised conferences and increased cooperation among Egyptian universities.
