
Qena University Council, in its recent session held at the university headquarters, approved a series of academic, organizational, and technological advancements. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, President of the University.
The Council officially approved the scheduling of the First Scientific Conference for Young Researchers at the Faculty of Education, set to take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2026. The event will focus on promoting innovative educational research and fostering knowledge exchange among early-career scholars, postgraduate students, and academic mentors. Additionally, approval was granted for the First Conference on Heritage and Development, to be hosted in Hurghada from 27 to 29 October 2026.
In a bid to enhance community health and research capabilities, the Council ratified a new cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Medicine and the Qena Health Directorate.
Logistically, the Council approved the relocation of the Leather Technology Lab from the central Unit of Laboratories to the Faculty of Specific Education. Furthermore, the Council reviewed a comprehensive performance report from the National Bank for Scientific Laboratories and Devices, spanning September 2025 to May 2026, which highlighted significant upgrades made to the university’s research infrastructure.

During the session, University President Dr. Ahmed Akkawy honored Dr. Abdel Aziz Sheiba, expressing deep appreciation for his leadership and dedication during his tenure as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.
