A workshop on career awareness in the food industry at the Faculty of Science


Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Kamal Nassary, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr.Khaled bin Al-Waleed, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Noha Ahmed Al-Tayeh Ali, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. The Faculty of Science organized a workshop on career awareness in the food industry in Qena and Luxor, in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with a view to familiarizing final year students with the food industry sector and possible career paths.

At the beginning, Dr. Noha Ahmed Al-Tayeh conveyed the greetings of the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Dr. Hadiya, Director of the Capacity Development Center at the university. she also welcomed the attendance and affirmed that the Faculty is interested in entrepreneurship and that it welcomes all ideas support the community.

Dr. Hossam Bedaiwy, a consultant to UNIDO, spoke about the definition of the organization, the institutional framework of the project and its role in serving the university. Praising the expertise of South Valley University in project management.

Eng. Omar Riyad, Director of the UNIDO’s office in Luxor and Qena, delivered a presentation on the Inclusive Green Growth Project implemented by the Organization in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and a group of local partners. Emphasizing the need for attention to training and capacity-building, as it is the most important role of UNIDO, improve service delivery and technical assistance to industry.

Dr. Muhammad Omran, Director of the Career Development Center at the University, spoke about the role of the center in serving students. Stressing the importance of the courses and services provided by the Center to students and graduates.

In conclusion, Dr. Muhammad Najm, a consultant for food industries and food safety in the project, touched on the importance of food safety, the institutions that adopt this, job opportunities, and how to prepare students to enter the field of food safety.
