A symposium on Women’s Mental Health at the Faculty of Arts


Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, President of the University and the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Salah Salim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the Anti-Violence against Women Unit presented a symposium on women’s mental health in conjunction with World Mental Health Day under the theme “Mental health and well-being is a global priority for all”.

Dr. Salah Salim stressed the importance of these seminars, encouraging female students to attend various activities that are of great importance in developing personal skills. He also stressed the need to benefit from the various services provided by the Anti-Violence Unit at the university.

The symposium was presented by Dr. Hala Khair Sinari, Professor of Mental Health at the Faculty of Education and Director of the Anti-Violence against Women Unit, where she explained the concept of mental health, and psychiatric illness, and with a presentation of the causes and methods of treatment of psychiatric illness and how to prevent it.

Dr. Al-Shaimaa Adham, assistant professor in English Department at the Faculty of Arts, spoke that the Unit offers numerous awareness seminars, lectures and workshops in all fields. The Unit also seeks to have a safe environment free of all forms of violence and discrimination against women.
