South Valley University is ranked 1544 globally in the University Ranking by Academic Performanc (URAP)

Prof. Dr. Youssef Gharbawy, President of South Valley University, announced that the university was ranked 1544 globally among 30000 international universities in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) for the year 2022-2023, explaining that it advanced 143 positions over the previous year, as it was ranked 18th locally among 33 Egyptian universities.

Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, noted that this Ranking focuses on academic quality, trying to classify institutions based on academic performance. The Ranking includes 3000 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) around the World as well as 61 different specialized subject areas. The main objective of URAP is to develop a ranking system for the world universities based on academic performance indicators that reflect the quality and the number of their scholarly publications.

Dr. Hamouda Muhammad Dardir, Chairman of the International Ranking Committee at the university, stated that the URAP uses 6 main indicators to measure academic performance. These indicators are the number of articles, citations, total documents, article impact total, citation impact total, and international collaboration.

Eng. Hussam Herzallah, a member of the International Ranking Team at the university, stated that the URAP gathers data from international bibliometric databases such as Web of Science and InCites provided by the Institute for Scientific Information. The overall score of each HEI is based on its performance over several indicators. The weight of the number of articles, citations, total documents, article impact total, and citation impact total indicators in the overall ranking is 85%. The weight of the International Collaboration indicator in the overall ranking is %15.

The President thanked all members of the university and the International Ranking Team, led by Dr. Ahmed Akkawi, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, which includes Dr. Hamouda Muhammad Dardir, and Dr. Ahmed Ismail, Eng. Hossam Herzallah, Eng. Ahmed Hassan, Mr. Muhammad Sayed, Mr. Badawy Muhammad El Badawy and Eng. Ahmed Abdel Naeem.
