The third Environmental Week began in South Valley University
Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Hani Helal, Minister of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research, Maged George, Minister of State for Environmental Affairs, General Magdy Ayoub the Governor of Qena, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour, president of the university and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Khodary the Vice President for environmental affairs. The Third Environmental Week activities are started in the South Valley University in Qena, which included several activities, including seminars and convoys and blood donation campaigns and forestation camps.

The program started by opening words to the guests of the week,
eng. Maged George's word is said by Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, General Director of Environmental Affairs Agency in Upper Egypt and refers by his words to environmental agenda of Egypt in 2010, and has been formulated through government agencies and non-governmental , civil society institutions and who are interested in the environmental issues , the ministry's efforts are to preserve the natural environment, improve air quality , the establishment of forest plantations and the development of the villages with most in its needs.

About the role of university in developing environmental awareness, the general Magdy Ayoub's word is said by Mr. Sabry Abd El Mageed, the general secretary of the Governor, and thanked the sector of Environmental Affairs for its support to the province in all its activities and praised the University civilizational role in Upper Egypt.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Khodary , the vice president for environmental affairs, showed the activities of environmental sector during previous years which the university organized dozens of convoys which are varied between therapeutic, social survey, agricultural and veterinary services provided in all villages and hamlets, which are located in scope, Orphan Day and a visit to a Aldbabipa in Esna , the organization of second conference for the Arab Children , and he referred to the activities of the week which discussed environmental challenges , climate change, risks and held a series of seminars and convoys, visits to patients with renal failure and there were blood donation campaign.

The program included the opening of a blood donation campaign in collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent, an exhibition of university productions, the Agricultural Research Center, the Center for Communications and Information Technology, Unit of the Central Laboratory, the Center of English language and the Center of environmental services.

Program also included a visit to a factory for recycling and the opening of camp for forestation
