Conference:
Education: the Best Investment (focusing on
contemporary Egypt and Britain)
Tuesday 18 & Wednesday 19 September 2012
Venues: Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, SOAS,
University of London, Thornhaugh Street, Russell
Square, London, WC1H 0XG and Cairo
University Conference Centre, Sarwat Street,
Giza. Both locations will be linked by video.
The British Egyptian Society is convening a two
day conference for Egypt and Britain to share
their recent experience in education and
training and to develop initiatives for future
collaborative projects. The conference will
reflect the wide range of opinions opened up by
recent political changes in Egypt. It will
involve those hoping to influence education
development in Egypt alongside the Egyptian
Ministries of Education and Higher Education, as
well as UK government representatives, academic
bodies leading education reform in the UK, and
business and industry in both countries. It
will be an early opportunity to engage the new
Egyptian government
The British-Egyptian Society is working with the
following partners in Egypt and the UK: Cairo
University, the Institute of Education and SOAS
at the University of London, Pembroke
College Oxford University, the University of
Cambridge English for Speakers of
Other Languages, the Egyptian Ministries
of Education and Higher Education, the British
Council in Egypt and the British
Egyptian Business Association. The conference is
also being actively supported by the British
Embassy in Egypt, the Egyptian British Business
Council in London and employers in both
countries.
The
conference will display a prominent A0 poster
exhibition in both locations, illustrating
education projects and programmes by
institutions, governments, and companies in both
countries.
