Job announcement: CDC Trainer at South Valley University

Position Summary

The Career Trainer will be responsible for providing individual and group training, support and guidance to students using the university Career Development Center (CDC). This will include:

Providing comprehensive services and information resources that enable students to take active responsibility for their career decision and job search;

Equipping students for developing career plans by working with them to help them identify their work related strengths, interests, and values and to develop a sound understanding the world of work;

Preparing students for entering the employment market by enhancing their job search skills and their capacity to communicate their strengths to employers;

Fostering relationships with the employer community to provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills, and find employment.

This position will report to the Career Development Center Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

To work with the CDC Manager, the CDC team and independently to:

Provide individual and group training in job search and employment readiness to students and recent graduates

Provide individual and group career advice and career direction services to students and recent graduates.

Develop and implement programs and services designed to equip students and recent graduates with necessary job search skills and employment preparation

Ensure the acquisition, maintenance, and dissemination of information regarding career fields, employment opportunities, and specific employers for full-time, part-time, internship and work-study opportunities

Ensure the development and maintenance of databases and online resources to support and deliver career services to, students, recent graduates and employers

Develop and implement strategies to identify potential employers and to sustain relationships between with them and the CDC

Develop and implement communication strategies to represent the CDC to various campus constituencies, such as faculty, staff, senior administration, and students.

Work with faculty members and university administrators, to support students’ and recent graduates’ employability

Develop and implement communication strategies to represent the CDC to various off-campus constituencies and interests including media, employers, alumni and the general public

Perform other related duties as assigned



DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three years experience in, or related to, career planning and employment services, including direct career counseling to students (or similar constituents)

Demonstrated success in cultivating collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and professional colleagues

DESIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation or related field



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Enthusiasm and commitment to working with students and employers

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, manage conflict

Strong spoken and written skills in both Arabic and English

Computer skills
