Projects in the different fields

 
1. Projects in the Field of Tourism Major Projects aiming at activating the Tourism Sector are as Follows

-  Establishment of the Nile Corniche (embankment) along an area of 26 feddans in Qena city.

-  Establishment of anchorages along the Nile, with space for more than 50 ships or floating hotels.

- Building a shipyard along the Nile in Armant to provide maintenance and hotel building services to 350 floating hotels. It is the only shipyard in Upper Egypt.

- Lighting Qena- Luxor road.

- Constructing ornamented walls and artifacts in squares: Squares were furnished with decorative fountains and street lamps; and flowers and green areas were spread out everywhere.

- Establishment of an outdoor cinema for families, along the Nile Corniche in Qena over an area of two feddans, with an overall capacity of 1000 viewers.

- Establishment of a number of high standard cafeterias and outlets, such as: (Basmet AI-Ganoub, Al-Rest, Al-Cinderlla and a patisserie and a shop for eastern and western desserts)

- Unoccupied lands were turned to green areas, and flowers were planted everywhere.

- Unoccupied lands lying within residential areas were fenced.

- New gates were constructed for the city, and were endowed with gardens, trees. flowers, green areas, fountains, and cafeterias.

- Being a major and fundamental historic destination, Sidi Abd Al-Rehim Al- Qenai Mosque underwent some serious restorations. New facades were built for the old mosque. In addition, the area of the mosque was increased to 800 meters square. A clean organized yard was established, and all messy areas and uncivilized occupancies surrounding the mosque were removed, such as carts and hantoor stations, and goat and sheep herds, that were previously present with abundance in the surrounding area.

- Removal of all sporadic and unauthorized buildings and areas from the roads of the city.

 

 

 
 
 
 

Ongoing Development Work and Establishments in Progress to Promote Tourism

Allocation of Land for Tourism Purposes

- The development of Dandara temple is in progress, and a Sound and Light Project will be introduced.

- The establishment of a corniche along the Nile in the cities of Esna, Annant. Deshna and Nagaa Hamadi is in progress.

- The restoration, rehabilitation and furnishing work for the five stars hotel 'Hathoor' is in progress.

- The environmental and industrial crafts in the governorate are currently being encouraged and supported : example, porcelain and pottery in Garagous, Qoos Center, and the Farkah and wood crafts in Nakada Center.

- Five feddans were allocated to the Ministry of Tourism for the establishment of a national museum.

- Vast areas of land along the Nile Corniche were allocated for hotel investments and other land was allocated for the establishment of a fun-fair.

- Vast areas of land on the Safaga Road were allocated for the establishment of tourist villages.
