	It provides leadership in teaching, research, learning, and public service. The University attracts students from every governorate of Egypt and some other countries. Its more than 1,900 faculty members have been trained at some of the world's finest institutions and they bring to the University a global perspective that enhances the learning environment.
	South Valley University is a vibrant, nationally recognized student-centered research institution with an enrollment of 65,038 in the Academic Year 2004/2005. SVU is focused on delivering high-quality undergraduate instruction, advancing its growing graduate division and fostering significant research activities .
	The University attracts students from every governorate of Egypt and some other countries. Its more than 2,000 faculty members have been trained at some of the world's finest institutions and they bring to the University a global perspective that enhances the learning environment .
	SVU main campus is located on the eastern border of Qena City along Qena-Red Sea road, covers more than 1000 acres, and includes many buildings. An old beautiful building located inside the city is used for Faculty of Education and another one nearby is used for Faculty of Specific Education. The University also has campuses in four other Governorates, all of which provide primarily graduate and professional education. Those campuses are located in Aswan , Luxor and Hurghada ( in Red Sea Gov.) . The University includes a total of 20 Faculty and Institute.
