The following courses are taught in the department; Medicinal<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em> plants, drugs, chemistry of natural products, and quality control on herbal<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em> medicines. Its activity extends to contributing to the teaching and<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em> research burdens.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It is concerned with the study of medicinal plants and natural sources,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> starting with their appearance and microscopy, then their components<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> which include active substances with a therapeutic effect and ending with<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> methods of separation, and study of chemical composition, side effects<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> and utilization of these natural medicinal drugs as alternative treatments.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 The Department of Pharmacognosy is one of the basic and unique departments in the faculty, as it has no equivalent in other practical faculties.
