Open Heart surgery at SVU Hospital

University will receive
Prof. Patrick Rushat, a Professor in
Cardiothoracic Surgery at
University of
Lausanne
- Switzerland, to do surgical operations at South Valley University
Hospital in Qena, during 14 to 21 May 2011.
The
university president added that this visit is the second time for
prof. Patrick Rousha. His first visit to SVU hospital included the
first open heart Surgery in Qena, and checkups for a lot of hard
cases.

During the era of the former president of the Arab Republic of Egypt, South Valley University was established in Qena desert on an area of 1000 acres, its first building was opened in 1983. The Establishment of buildings keeps coming till the university became distinguished university with its faculties, buildings, and staff. At Tuesday 9/11/2010, Mrs. Suzan Moubarak, the wife of the former president of the Arab Republic of Egypt, opened Qena University Hospital in the old campus with capacity 150 beds, which was prepared to be suitable for work at the Faculty of Medicine, and to achieve the academic and medical needs for 20 scientific department (clinical) in addition to specialized subspecialties in each department at a cost of more than 105 million pounds including constructions (35 million pounds), devices, equipments, and preparations (70 million pounds), in addition to running necessaries in trail opening year, which include medicines, medical supplies, and foods…. etc (10 million pounds), the trail work was finished at internal departments, and doing surgical operations during a year from October 2009 to October 2010. The number of cases who were checked up (55262) , cases in internal department (5295), and surgical operations that were done (1890) various surgeries in different medical specializations. The establishment of Gastrointestinal Tract and Liver hospital has been finished with a capacity 250 beds, and with a cost of more than 50 million pounds. They continue preparing equipments and devices for opening event during this year.
