The 4th Young Researchers’ Conference

On Dec.23, 2017, the university will organize the 4th young researchers conference on the medical sciences entitle “The New in the Medical Sciences”. It aims to encourage researchers to participate in the scientific research and conferences to exchange experiences. It will discuss the medical, Oral and Dental Medicine, pharmaceutical, and nursing sciences. Ministry of Health and non-governmental organizations will participate in the conference to develop the scientific research in the different fields so many workshops will be held in the light of the conference.

 

 Prevention and Control of Hepatitis C

With the cooperation of the University Hospital, The Medical Administration conducted medical examinations to detect students with viral infection C. Vice- President for Students' Affairs Prof. Mohammed Abul Fadal Badran talked about the objective of those examinations to early detect the virus. It is worth mentioning that 1000 students are examined and the examinations will continue for the rest of the university students.

 

TOEFL in Faculty of Al Alsun

TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. The test is designed to measure the English proficiency of non-English speaking people. Under the auspices of President of the University Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour, Faculty of Al Alsun in Luxor signed an agreement with AMIDEAST to grant TOEFL certificate to be an authorized entity

 

King Faisal International Prize

It was Launched by the King Faisal Foundation (KFF) and granted for the first time in 1979 to recognize the outstanding works of individuals and institutions in five major categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science. Its aim is to benefit Muslims in their present and future, inspire them to participate in all aspects of civilization, as well as enrich human knowledge and develop mankind. KFIP winners are evaluated only based on merit and their works are meticulously examined by specialized selection committees. The strict selection procedure meets international standards, and many of the laureates who have been awarded the prize went on to receive other prestigious prizes, such as the Nobel Prize

Preparing for the Student Elections at SVU

The university prepares for the student elections on Dec.10, 2017; consequently, Vice- President for Students' Affairs Prof. Mohammed Abul Fadal Badran declares the committees that the students will compete in as the social, physical, family, scout and cultural committees. It is worth mentioning that 1277 students candidate in 90 committees at the university branches in Qena, Luxor and Hurghada.

 

Drug Awareness Symposium

With the cooperation of Drug Control and Addiction Treatment Fund, Community Service and Environmental Affairs Sector organized an awareness symposium on facing the phenomenon of drug addiction at Faculty of Commerce under the supervision of Vice- President for Community Service and Environmental Affairs Prof. Yusuf Al-Garabwy to spread awareness between students. Mr. Ragab Mahmoud, A representative of Drug Control and Addiction Treatment Fund, talked about the great effort of the fund to face the phenomenon of addiction through organizing various awareness campaigns, preventive programs, workshops and training courses to build a positive personality capable of confronting the various negative phenomena that hinder the development process. The symposium confirmed the importance of awareness on dangers of addiction and its impact on public health and destructive role caused by those habits in destructing communities. At the end of the symposium, an open dialogue was organized with the students of the Faculty about the phenomenon
Establishing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center

Under the presidency of Prof. Abbas Mansour, the University council approved:

-Establishing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.
-Granting doctoral degree to 6 researchers at the different faculties.
-Granting Master's degree to 14 researchers at the different faculties.
-Granting bachelor degree in nursing to 2 students.
-Granting General Diploma in Education to 719 students.
-Granting Professional Diploma in Education to 7 students.
-Granting bachelor degree in veterinary medicine to 5 students.
-Granting bachelor degree in physical education to 6 students.
-Granting bachelor degree in engineering to 4 students.
 

Workshop on the European Union Funding Opportunities

The university organized a workshop on the European Union Funding Opportunities in cooperation with the European Union office in Cairo. Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour, President of the University, asserted the importance of the EU projects, referring to the university role in holding workshops and symposia to promote the scientific research. Besides, Prof. Mahmoud Khodary, Vice President for Postgraduate and Research Affairs, talked about the available EU Funding opportunities to get scholarships and grants, referring to the importance of improving the foreign language and communicating with the donors. It is worth mentioning that the EU Project Unit at SVU supported the researchers with the available EU Funding opportunities.

Drawing Lots of 13th Arab Soccer Tournamen

The lots of 13th Arab Soccer Tournament was drawn under the auspices of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghafar, Minister of Youth and Sports Eng. Khalid Abdul Aziz, Governor of Qena General Abdel Hamid El Hagan, President of the University Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour and Vice- President for Students' Affairs Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abul Fadal Badran. Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour emphasized the university role in organizing that tournament yearly to strengthen and consolidate bonds of friendship and cooperation between students and exchange experiences, referring to the importance of student activities at the university. The championship consisted of 28 teams in 8 groups.
 
Organizing the 13th Arab Soccer Tournament at SVU

Khalid Abdul Aziz and President of the University Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour, the 13th Arab Soccer Tournament will be organized on November11, 2017 with the participation of 25 Egyptian Universities. Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour emphasized the university role in organizing that tournament yearly to strengthen and consolidate bonds of friendship and cooperation between students, referring to the importance of student activities at the university. It is worth mentioning that Mansoura University won the championship last year.
 

 

Receiving 15 Dutch Medical Experts at SVU

   Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour, President of the University, received 15 Dutch medical experts on November 3,2017 in the context of cooperation with the Egyptian Community in the Netherlands to develop the work in the university hospitals in the various medical specializations, exchange experiences and prepare a distinguished graduate from the medical sectors of SVU with a high level of experience. He also emphasized the university role in upgrading the professional aspect in the university hospitals and establishing many specialized hospitals as Women's Health Hospital and Children's Hospital.

Future Vision for Sports Professions

Under the auspices of President of the University Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour, a symposium on the Future Vision for Sports Professions was organized by Faculty of Physical Education under the supervision of Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Ahmed Kamal Nassary. Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mousa, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, emphasized the role of the faculty in educating its students and organizing the different activities to refine their expertise, develop their talents and increase their knowledge. The symposium discussed also the recent development in these professions and the outputs’ increase for the beneficiaries of the syndicate. A documentary film was shown about the university achievements .At the end, an open dialogue was organized with students about the Sports Act and the vital role played by the General Syndicate of Sports Professions

 

Welcoming Ceremony at Faculty of Archeology

A welcoming ceremony was organized by Faculty of Archeology under the auspices of President of the University Prof. Abbas Mansour who praised the artistic shows presented by the students especially shows of the glorious October victory .  Medical Campaigns in Villages of Nag Hammadi

Under the auspices of President of the University Prof. Abbas Mansour, Community Service and Environment Development Sector organized medical campaigns in Nag Hammadi villages under the supervision of Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development Prof. Yusuf Al-Garabwy with the participation of doctors and pharmacists of the university hospital. 
-The campaign in Alshatbya succeeded to treat the following: 
Internal Medicine (55 cases), Gynecology and Obstetrics (35 cases), Pediatrics (90 cases), Ophthalmology (35 cases) – Otolaryngology (30 cases) – Dermatology (60 cases).
-The campaign in Nag Ibrahim succeeded to treat the following: 
Internal Medicine (75 cases), Gynecology and Obstetrics (45 cases), Pediatrics (100 cases) – Otolaryngology (38 cases) – Dermatology (25 cases).
-The campaign in Albrahma succeeded to treat the following: 
Internal Medicine (52 cases), Gynecology and Obstetrics (45 cases), Pediatrics (40 cases), Ophthalmology (35 cases) – Otolaryngology (25 cases) – Dermatology (42 cases).

 

Workshop on University Fundraising

Under the auspices of President of the University Prof. Dr. Abbas Mansour, the university participated with a delegation under the supervision of Vice President for Postgraduate and Research Affairs in a workshop on University Fundraising. It discussed how to get scholarships for alumni and funded projects, increase incoming students and properly market for the university to get donations from institutions and individuals.

 

Treating 858 Cases in Al-Qusair

Community Service and Environmental Affairs Sector organized a medical campaign in Al-Qusair in Red Sea Governorate for two days under the supervision of Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Affairs Prof. Yusuf Al-Garabwy with the participation of doctors and pharmacists from the university hospital. An awareness symposium was organized to discuss the endemic diseases and how to prevent them. It is worth mentioning that 858 cases were treated for free in the following specializations:
The first day:
Internal Medicine (140 cases) - Gynecology and Obstetrics (22 cases) – Orthopedics (65 cases) – Surgery (15 cases) – Pediatrics (107 cases) - Endemic Diseases (141 cases) - Medical Analysis (21 cases).
The second day:
Internal Medicine (65 cases) - Gynecology and Obstetrics (6 cases) – Orthopedics (50 cases) – Surgery (14 cases) – Pediatrics (40 cases) - Endemic Diseases (71 cases) - Medical Analysis (14 cases) - Dermatology (47 cases).

Under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, the 1st International Conference on Nanotechnology was opened by President of the University Prof. Abbas Mansour and President of Fayoum University Prof. Khaled Ismael Hamza in Luxor in 3/10/2017 under the slogan” For a better life “ . Prof. Abbas Mansour asserted the importance of scientific research and technology in developing the countries, referring to the university interest in scientific research where specialized centers in the field of Nanotechnology were established with distinguished researchers. He also called researchers to benefit from the conference that serves the community and participates in spreading the scientific research, referring to the university role in serving the local community through medical and awareness campaigns .Additionally, Prof. Khaled Ismael Hamza asserted the importance of scientific cooperation between SVU and Fayoum University especially in the field of Nanotechnology that was applied in the field of reinforced concrete. Besides, Prof. Mahmoud Khodary, Vice President for Postgraduate and Research affairs, talked about the fields of Nanotechnology and risks arising from the use of nanomaterials. Moreover, Vice President for Luxor campus Prof. Saleh Abdel Moaty talked about the university efforts in establishing Luxor campus to serve the citizens of the governorate. Finally, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Affairs Prof. Yusuf Algarabawy asserted that 4 countries “Germany, France, Tunisia and Yemen”,10 universities, National Research Center, Arab Organization for Industrialization and City of Scientific Research in in Borg El Arab participated in the conference.

Prof. Abbas Mansour, President of the University, witnessed the welcoming ceremony organized by sport activities administration for new students where he asserted the excellence that the university has achieved in previous years in the different fields .He also talked about the various student activities that the university yearly organized and various Egyptian and Arabian delegation participated in. Additionally, Prof. Mohammed Abul Fadal Badran , Vice President for Students' Affairs ,referred to the university position as was isn’t just a place to study, but also a place for practicing the different activities that were an educational element to develop the personality of the student , encourage his talents , satisfy his needs and forming a leading person capable of thinking properly. Moreover, Dr. Aly Aldin, General coordinator of student activities, asserted the importance of student activities that were a mean to creativity, contribute to develop the spirit of social responsibility, develop the elements of loyalty and belonging and activate the spirit of citizenship, calling all students to participate in the different activities.
 

 
Art Exhibition at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

Prof. Abbas Mansour, President of the University, opened the art exhibition organized by Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on Oct., 1, 2017 with the participation of a large number of the faculty students.
