Faculty of Agriculture
The faculty of Agriculture
in Qena fulfils the mission of the South Valley University by
conducting on – campus academic instruction, outreach education
through the faculty , and research through the Agricultural Research
Centre as well as the experimental farms belonging to the University
. This combination enables the faculty to educate students about
critical issues and to develop solutions to problems in agriculture
and food systems in relation to the environment, families, and local
government, thereby improving the quality of life and providing the
intellectual basis for better lives around the globe
The faculty exists to:
Advance the understanding of agricultural systems and their
relationships to the environment through basic and applied research.
Enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of agribusiness in
regional, national, and global marketplaces .
Expand and apply biological, physical, engineering and social
sciences in the agricultural environment of South Valley region.
Within the next 10 years, the faculty of Agriculture will develop
its programs for in education and research in the areas of
agricultural sciences and related to the available natural
resources; sustainable and urban agriculture These areas of focus
reflect vital needs in agriculture and natural resources. New
changing conditions and keep its intellectual climate vibrant, it is
of utmost importance that the College continue to nurture and
support basic and applied research in the natural, and social
sciences. The areas of focused research must be pursued
simultaneously with basic research in biology, engineering ,
economics, and other sciences that support applied research in
agriculture and natural resources.
