L\u2019horticulture repr\u00e9sente environ 60&nbsp;% de l\u2019ensemble des revenus agricoles en \u00c9gypte. C\u2019est aussi une solution en cas de manque de ressources en eau arable pour d\u2019autres cultures. L\u2019eau sal\u00e9e peut \u00eatre exploit\u00e9e dans l\u2019irrigation des palmiers, des olives et des figues \u00e9pineuses, o\u00f9 elle est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme une culture alimentaire majeure pour combler le d\u00e9ficit alimentaire des peuples.
