Professional Information
1- Programme Aims To graduate students who are capable to work in electronic manufactories, radio-thereby laboratories, optics workshops, climatic monitoring stations, astronomy stations, nuclear energy, and renewable energy (e.g. solar energy applications,). To produce graduates who are able to carry out scientific researches and/or work in research centres. To obtain graduates who can use physical measurements apparatus in various applications.
2- Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) a- Knowledge and Understanding:
a1-The undergraduate
program in Physics is designed to lay the groundwork for a fundamental
understanding to explain natural Phenomena encountered on the smallest and
largest scales. In this program, the students are exposed to the general
approach of how physics look at nature, draw generalizations, and bring about
the interplay between observation, insight, models, and theories.
a2-The Department of Physics has an ongoing research in both theoretical and experimental physics. Nuclear intention. Research include Mathematical physics. Research activities in experimental physics include the study of polymers, magnetism. , molecular spectroscopy and electrical ,optical properties of thin films, surface physics. A3- Laboratories have been established to accommodate the experimental interests of the Department with additional research laboratories to be established in the near future.
b- Intellectual Skills b1- Physics and astronomy have had a tremendous influence on our view of the universe in which we live, and have enhanced our ability to understand nature. b2- The study of physics may be approached with a variety of goals in mind. One may want to make a career of physics, as a research worker, as a teacher, or as an applier of physics to problems outside of physics itself. Even at times when the job market is poor for positions in pure physics, the background provided by a study of physics is an excellent basis for branching out into a variety of areas. b3- Physics majors frequently find it stimulating and profitable to enter high-demand borderline fields such as medical physics, Electrical physics and nuclear physics.
c- Professional and Practical Skills
C1- The mission of the Department of Physics is to recruit and educate for leadership in science, to promote the profession of physics, to advance knowledge in the field of physics, and to serve the scientific and manpower needs of the community and nation.
C2- The Department of Physics offers a program of study leading to the Bsc of Science degree in physics. This is a terminal degree program, designed to produce an up-to-date professional physicist, and is especially appropriate for someone seeking a career in industry. C3- The program emphasizes computational and experimental approaches to advanced topics in physics, so that graduates will have developed valuable practical skills as well as fundamental knowledge. d- General and Transferable Skills
d1- The aim of this programs course is to prepare graduates from a range of disciplines in Science or physics, for a research career in Physics either in academic and industrial laboratories. d2- This course provides the trainee researcher with a solid grounding in core scientific disciplines and technological applications combined with a range of transferable skills in areas such as technical writing and presentation, intellectual. Etc.
